Plans For Our Very First Year Under The Mistletoe!

Christmas is getting closer & closer every single day!  (Well, obviously!)  Right now, the count is down to 44 days!  I just might squeal!  But...I have to wait until December First.  Rule.  But...

I wanted to dedicate a post to discuss the Christmas Traditions and Christmas Ideas I hope we use this year.  It is our very first Christmas together!  Last year on Christmas, we were not yet dating and this year we are MARRIED!  I have big plans!  :)  I've waited my entire life for a husband on Christmas.

I know that sounds silly, but I really have!  I remember being a little girl and observing my parents, my grandparents, my aunts and uncles, and random strangers looking SO in love around Christmas.  There is just something so magical about the season and even though I later learned that my parents pretty much hated each other when I was kid, they always looked so happy and so deeply in love around Christmas.  When I was older, I wished and longed for a boyfriend or a husband to be with me on Christmas Eve.  Our whole family goes over to my grandma's house on Christmas Eve, and all of the couples just swooned and snuggled and look so happy.  I have wanted that for as long as I can remember.  I have wanted that before I even knew what love was.  I didn't even know what I liked, I just knew that I liked it and wanted it.  Make sense?  So, I really have waited my entire life to be married for Christmas.  I am so happy that I have found my soul mate, the love of my life, and my other half to share such a special holiday with!  I've been waiting for him a long time..I prayed MANY prayers for him, I looked for him in all the wrong places, and I pretty much had an army begging God to go ahead and send him to me.  I went through a lot of heartbreak before he showed up, and I waited for my husband for a long time.  BUT, I have been waiting for "Christmas Love" for even longer.  I wanted Christmas Love before I even knew that I wanted "the one."

The first thing I am going to do...and perhaps the most exciting thing...is create a Christmas Memories Journal.  We will be able to record EVERY Christmas memory we ever have together.  The best part?  The journal will be a life-time project.  I purchased a big enough binder that will allow us to document every Christmas EVER! :)  Click here to check out my post about this journal!

Below are some of my favorite pins that I hope to somehow incorporate into our first Christmas together!  This is just a highlight of my favorites, so click here to view the entire Holiday's board on Pinterest!  :)  Without further ado...my favorite pins!

My husband's absolutely favorite type of cake is Red Velvet!  One thing we are going to do together is have a quiet, laid back breakfast before we do anything else on Christmas morning.  I think he would be pretty amazed by red velvet pancakes!  And the color is pretty festive!

I really want to make some super special handmade gifts for my loved ones!  I have plenty of family members that "regift" some pretty tacky things.  These people do not motivate me to spend money on buying them a great gift.  I'd much rather make them something ~ at least I'll have fun and my hubs won't be mad at our debit card statement!

No special day is complete without a mason jar craft!  I love how the salt looks like snow!  :)  We don't get much snow around here...it's been in the 70's this week in SC!  So snow decor is a very good stand-in.

In addition to this, I am working on a list of traditions I'd like for us to start!  :)  This is what I've come up with so far:
  • See a Christmas show
  • Go look at Christmas Lights
  • Watch Elf (because we did last year "as friends")
  • Have Happy Birthday, Jesus candles!
  • Wear matching PJ's on Christmas morning
  • Have our picture taken & sent out on Christmas Cards (photoshoot is this Sunday!!)
What are you doing this year for Christmas?  What kind of weird, off-beat traditions do you have for Christmas?  I'd love to get some ideas!  What do you WISH you and your husband had done for your first Christmas together or for your first married Christmas?
