The Versatile Blogger & Leibster Award

You guys, I'm so flattered.  :)  And I'm totally gonna treat this like the Grammy's.  I received my first Versatile Blogger Award in December and my first Leibster Award in February.  I was so excited, so flattered.  My little baby blog has grown so since then, and I'm almost up to 100 followers.  It truly fascinates me that there are 100 people - 100 strangers - out there who thing I'm sort of interesting.  I think y'all are interesting, too, by the way.  Sweet Autumn gave the the Leibster Award on Wednesday and Sweet Amber gave the Versatile Blogger Award to me today.  I blush.  :)

Each Nominee Should:
1. Choose five up and coming blogs to give the Liebster award to. Blogs must have less than 200 followers.
2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
3. Post the award on your blog.
4. List the bloggers you gave the award to with links to their sites. Leave a comment on their blogs to let them know they've recevied the award.
5. Share five random facts about yourself!

I want to nominate... Bronwyn, Allison, Val, Kristen, and Cori.  You ladies are the bees knees and I hope your blogs continue to grow & make all your bloggy-dreams come true!

Thank you, endlessly, Autumn!!  You're the sweetest and I'm so glad to have you as a new friend!

5 Randoms About Me...
-  I'm bad about nagging my husband... there, I said it.  It's a horrible habit and I can't stop myself.
- I have 5 tattoos.  Ready for more!
-  I suck at math.  All math.  I have to still use my fingers when I'm adding or subtracting.
-  Zombie licks my face...and I let him.  Because I like the way his breath smells.  Ewww!  ;)

I want to nominate...AutumnChristinMooAubreyBrittMeganSarahJessicaJenaAmiraAmberErinEmilyBrooke, and Bailey.

Amber, thanks so much for the award!  :)  It means a lot to know you think highly of me, and I'm glad that we are not only bloggy-friends, but also sisters in Christ.

7 (more) Randoms About Me :)
-  I think that my husband's adam's apple is super sexy.
-  I work in Sales at the Family Business.
-  One of my food-loves is sushi...specifically, tuna...with lots of wasabi!
-  I have a new love for riding my bike!  Even though I'm horrible at it...which makes me question where the whole "it's like riding a bike - you never forget!" came from.
-  I got a high-tech sewing machine for Christmas that I can't figure out how to thread.
-  I know how to drive a manual car.  My first car was a six-speed stick shift.  Loved it!  Rocked it!

I tried hard to pick people I haven't chosen before for these awards.  If I "got you again," well..congratulations.  Haha.  Thank ALL of you for following my blog and for making me feel important.  ;) Have a great day!!

Fill This Out Or I'll Beat You

"Fill This Out Or I'll Beat You" was the subject of an e-mail I sent to my husband tonight.  As he sat across from me.  I saw the idea on Bethany's blog.  Seriously, her idea verbatim, even down to the subject line of the e-mail.  :)  I'm not all that original, but let me tell you..my husband is.  And while some of his answers
are quite inappropriate & I asked him to change them, he refused.  So...Meet The Robinson's.  Filter-free!  *Don't say I didn't warn you!*

11's

This is how it goes…

  • You must post the rules
  • Post 11 fun facts about yourself
  • Answer the 11 questions that the tagger posted for you & then create 11 questions to ask the people you’ve tagged
  • Tag 11 people and link them in your post
  • Let them know you have tagged them.

Meg's Questions!

(1)  Who was the hottest/cutest teacher you ever had.
I've never had a hot teacher...but I've gone to schools who always had hot teachers/coaches.  I think I had the biggest crush on a man we called Coach Mezz - although he never taught me.

(2) What’s the strangest talent you have?
I don't have too many talents in the first place.  I asked Mr. Robinson, and he said that I style my own hair in weird ways...like the sock bun, haha.  So...sure?

(3)  What was the last thing you ever got grounded for/in trouble for with your parents?
Ummm....that would be, teaching my little sister how to buy marijuana.  I wasn't grounded because I wasn't living at home.  I was punished though...I wasn't being a very good big sister.  I regret it all the time... that was the day my parents cut me off and I had to drop out of college.  :/  It was a darker time in my life.  Moving on..

(4)  Which shoe do you put on first?
My left shoe!  But I'm right handed... ta da

(5)  What’s your favorite condiment?
It used to be bbq sauce but my husband converted me.  I'm a ketchup-addict, now.

(6)  What’s the last book you read?
The Bible - I try to read it every morning.  The last fictional book I read was Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.  It was an absolutely amazing book that I recommend to everyone!  :)

(7)  How long is your typical shower/morning routine?
It varies...Usually about an hour...if I stretch it our or if I'm doing something fancy, it's about 2 hours.  If I wake up late, it is possible for me to get ready in 30 minutes or less.  I don't advertise that, though.

(8)  What do you plan to do for your next birthday?
Cry.  I'll be 24.  I don't want to talk about it.  Haha, kidding.  Kind of.  I don't know!  It's in December, so we'll have to see.  It's in the hubby's hands!  All I know...I better get lucky.  ;)

(9)  What is your go-to, never fails, always delicious dinner dish you make when you're cooking for others?
If I'm having people over for dinner, Italian food.  Anything Italian...I make a delicious homemade basketti sauce ;)  However, if I'm cooking food at home and taking it somewhere...like to an event at church, spicy chicken nuggets.  Across the board, I'm known for my red velvet cupcakes, though!  (Recipes under the [Create] tab up top!)

(10)  Do you prefer to wear your hair up or down?
I prefer to wear it down, but I rarely do.  It's so dang long and thick..it takes so long to style down, so it's usually in a braid or ponytail or bun..

(11)  If someone gave you $100 right now, what would you buy with it?
Nothing.  I'd save it.  Or spend it on bills.  Boring answer, I know.  Haha.

Now...y'all have to answer my questions!
I'm going to be lazy and just tag the people whose buttons I have on my side bar.  ;)
Which means I'm tagging 13 of y'all and not "11" like the rules clearly stated.
What-evs!  Love it or leave it.

So, lovers, you're tagged =)
(And btw...
if you don't follow these AWESOME bloggers, you should start!
Or at least pay them a visit.
Also, look for a post featuring them soon!)

My Life Unmasked

Please answer the following questions, bosom-buddies!

1.  Is your blog on Twitter ~ why or why not?

2.  Tell us one thing that you where once able to do, but now feel like you're too old to do it or too old to pull it off.

3.  What is your most common or favorite day dream?

4.  Do you have any good broken-bones stories?  Tell, tell!

5.  Name one aspect of yourself that embarrasses you.  For example...I have a HUGE appetite and it embarrasses me, haha.  How 'bout you?

6.  Do you have any tattoos?  Piercings?

7.  Tell me about your fingernails.... painted?  natural?  are you obsessed with fake nails like I am?  Shellac?

8.  How is God using you or working in your life right now?

9.  What is something you should be able to do easily but can't?  (That's a weird question, so I'll elaborate.  I struggle with telling time on a non-digital clock or watch and I also don't know anything about the planets.  I don't know their names or their order or anything about moons....I had a death in the family during the 3rd grade and we had to travel.  I missed those lessons and never took it upon myself to learn/practice those things).

10.  What's your go-to breakfast meal?

11.  What's your favorite way to relax?

So, there's my answers, taggees, and questions!  =)  Enjoy!  Thanks for taggin' me, Megan!

Am I Being Naive?

Yesterday, I went to the eye doctor with my dad to help him pick out glasses.  The lady who was measuring his face and processing his order for the frames mentioned that it was her first day back from maternity leave.  Someone asked her if this was her only child, and she responded with "My baby daddy has other children."  I noticed she wasn't wearing a ring.  She didn't refer to him as her boyfriend or fiance or husband, but as "my baby daddy."

Some time passed, and I guess to make casual conversation, she told my dad that she felt like a bad mother because she forgot to put nipples in her baby's diaper bag when she left him at his grandma's house that morning.  She went on to say that her "baby daddy" was working and couldn't take the nipples to grandma's house either.

I promptly updated my Facebook status.  It received some likes and comments.  Even Mr. Robinson commented!  :)

Gina is my super-slut cousin.  Some history with her.  She dated this guy named Lane all throughout high school.  Her friends tried to get her to date other guys, she refused.  She was in love.  They got married shortly after they graduated.  Soon after that, she got pregnant and they had a daughter.  About a year later, she started working as a nurse's assistant at a doctor's office two towns over.  She started sleeping with a man who was 20 years old than her and had THREE children.  She left her husband, told him she didn't love him anymore, and had found somebody else.  He tried to change, to work on their marriage, etc.  She refused and told him that she hated him, never should have married him.  I still see him around, he's remained heartbroken for the past 15 years and has not dated or re-married.  He still loves her.  So, while I would typically side with her on the whole "never say never" thing, I was majorly offended by her comment.

To me, it felt like she implying that I (or my husband) would cheat.  So, screw you Gina, and you you can read what I commented beneath her snarky little comment on my status.  I was a little annoyed, but I went to bed thinking.. Well, that's the end of that.

I wake up this morning and see a comment from a dear friend of mine I used to wait tables with, who is going through some really difficult health problems, has three children, her husband has left her, & they are legally separated.  This was her comment:

I never intended for this status to be controversial.

Before we got married, Mr. Robinson and I had a discussion about what we feel constitutes or justifies a divorce.  For any of you soon-to-be-Brides out there, I think it's important to have this conversation before the wedding.  It's always a good idea to know where your spouse stands on important issues, such as divorce.  So, Mr. Robinson and I were in agreement that we would get divorced under two circumstances:

(1) Infidelity
(2) Extreme Abuse Over a Long Period of Time

We feel like our beliefs are scripture based, and those are the ONLY two circumstances in which a divorce is acceptable in the eyes of God.  We didn't get married and promise FOREVER, but have our fingers crossed behind our backs.  We didn't say "For Better & For Worse, EXCEPT when you forget to take out the trash..."  We both took and take our vows very seriously and do everything we can to ensure our marriage is a success story.  God is at the center of our marriage, and to me, that's the single most important aspect of ANY marriage.  Marriage is not about TWO people.  It's about THREE.  Without God, I wouldn't be able to forgive my husband when he wrongs me, I wouldn't be able to be selfless, I wouldn't be a wife who had any chance of keeping her husband & going to heaven.  So, that's my soap box on divorce.  I kept it short, and you're welcome.

Back to the story.  I was in the process of commenting back to Cristine.  I typed up three different responses and nothing felt right.  I know that she is going through some really tough things right now and I truly do hurt for her.  I pray for her and their children, and even her husband.  Theirs was not a Christian marriage, and I honestly thing think that a lot of their problems stemmed from that.

How do I respond to what feels like an attack on my beliefs & morals, without attacking her?  I never intended my status to step on toes or offend anyone.  It did occur to me that someone might get a little snappy with me, but that doesn't change the fact that I AM GLAD I won't have to call someone "my baby daddy."  Sure, maybe as a joke some day, but not seriously..  I don't know.  When I hear "my baby daddy" I automatically assume that the girl who is speaking HAS to call him that because they have no other relationship.

A man & a woman have a child.
If they were dating, he'd be her BOYFRIEND.
If they had dated, he'd be her EX.
If they were engaged, he'd be her FIANCE.
If they were married, he'd be her HUSBAND.
If they were separated, he'd be her SOON-TO-BE EX.
If they were divorced, he'd be her EX-HUSBAND.
If they had hooked up one time, he'd be her BABY DADDY.
If she didn't know who the dad was, he'd be her BABY DADDY.
If they were "sex-friends" but had no relationship, he'd be her BABY DADDY.

And for the record, "The Father of My Child/ren" would work in any of those situations and be considered respectful.

Maybe that's just my personal opinion of the definition of "baby daddy."  So I looked it up on Urban Dictionary, obviously.  Come to find out, my opinion on BABY DADDY's was completely correct.  So, at the bottom of the status I wrote...

This was in no way intended to be controversial or offensive. Instead of stepping on EVERYONE's toes by explaining what I meant, my opinion of divorce, or even clarifying what I meant by this status...if you have any further questions please refer to the following website.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Baby+Daddy

The first definition is about black men, and I really hope this status doesn't take me down that road.  I'm just so MAD at this situation!  I feel like my beliefs were attacked, my cousin tells me I'm going to cheat on my husband, and a dear friend of ours who was AT THE WEDDING things that I'm wrong for my happy marriage?  I know that misery loves company, and that people want to justify their own wrong actions by trying to bring other people down with them...I'm just upset.  The whole things begs the question,

Am I naive for thinking this will never happen to me?

I was Tagged - Take 2

I was tagged today, for the second time.  I must be pretty awesome.  :)

I probably would not participate again, except for the fact that I adore the gal that tagged me.  If you don't know Moo, go to her page - immediately - because she is the bomb.com (hehe, cyber-humor!).

So...I am to answer her 11 questions, make up 11 new questions, & tag 5 people.  But....naturally, I'm a rule breaker.  So, I'll answer Moo's questions.  THEN, I'll dip out.  :)

1. What one event in your life would you say has shaped you into the person you are today?

One event.  That's a toughie.  I'm gonna go with the day my parents drove an hour and a half to go to church with me when I first went to church with my now husband.  When our relationship was first blooming, I was not living right at all.  I was doing some pretty horrible things, and eventually got to the point where I knew I was going to lose Mr. Robinson if I didn't pull myself together.  He had invited & invited & invited & invited me to come to church with him.  I always declined.  I was a waitress and had to work Sunday's.  When I realized I was about to lose the first good man I had ever been interested in, I told my boss I would no longer be working Sunday's.  She needed to know why.  I told her I was going to start going to church.  She looked me in the eye and said to me, "I know the live you live.  Going to church?  Yea, right.  I don't believe you.  No, you cannot have Sunday's off."  I was hurt, I was upset, I felt like I was trying to make a change - an improvement - and wasn't allowed.  So, I threatened to quit.  Even though I was fully supporting myself at the time & my parents were very adamant about not supporting the life I was living, they offered to help me out if it came down to me quitting.  I think it's because they knew that this time was different.  So I got the whole work-thing straightened out and didn't have to quit or be fired after all.  I picked a day to go to church with Mr. Robinson - but was TERRIFIED.  So my parents drove an hour and half to be there with me.  My mom was crying a little, I think.  My dad shook his hand and said, "Anybody that gets my girl to walk through the doors of a church is alright by me."  It was a turning point in my life, and I'm so glad my parents were there to encourage me.  I wasn't received a lot of encouragement from my drug-dealer or bar-hopping friends.  If that day hadn't happened, I probably wouldn't be Mrs. Robinson today.

2. Do you truly like people? (haha. I think this is funny)

Um, no.  No, I do not.  I am easily annoyed by people in real life.  BUT, I am praying about it and trying to do better!  I am trying to have a more compassionate heart.  I am really nice to people in blog-land because writing gives me time to THINK before I speak.  I'm trying to carry that over into real life.

3. Do you read someone's blog you don't necessarily like? We all know we do it... :)

In a way, I guess I do.  I don't KNOW any bloggers in real life, so technically, no.  I do read some blogs that I don't really love.  I can think of three blogs right off the top of my head that I find painfully boring.  I do, however, read them anyway.  Why?  I think the girls who write them are nice.

4. Is there anything in your life that you wish you could take back?

Well, I did learn almost all of my lessons the hard way.  I wouldn't give up the lessons I learned, but I do wish I hadn't insisted on learning so many things "the hard way."

5. If you are married- did you write your vows or do traditional vows?

Ooooh - good question!  Neither!  We opted for spiritual vows and they were AWESOME.  I've been meaning to sit down and watch our wedding video so that I can write them down and frame them.  When I do, I'll add that to my "wedding posts" so come back!

6. What would you say is your ONE guilty pleasure?

Smoking a Camel Menthol Silver cigarette.  I have actually pretty much quit.  BUT when I'm super mad or when I'm drinking, which is ultra-rare, I can't help myself.  I know it's unhealthy.  I might smoke two glorious cigarettes a month.  Don't judge me, yo.  Old habits die hard.

7. Do you want to work? Would you not work if you had the opportunity to do so?

I have a job.  I work in the family business and have the opportunity of running it and being the VP in probably the next 5 years.  I wouldn't trade that opportunity for anything, but if not for the family business...you better bet your bottom dollar that I would be a house-wife!

8. What would you say is your biggest accomplishment so far in your life?

Becoming a Christian.  It's the best part about me.  Arguably, it's the root of everything good about me.  The accomplishment there is knowing, believing in, and investing is what I know to be true.  & trying my best to live a life that reflects that.

9. Do you want children?

Maybe...some day.  Not any time soon, I know that much!  We've talked about not having kids at all, maybe having kids later in life, and adopting when we are ready.  There sure are lots of options!  I know that I occasionally get bit by the baby-fever-bug.  And if we do ever adopt, I would also want to TRY to make a baby as well.  There is just something amazing about taking a part of me, a part of him, and creating a person.  I want to look into the face of someone who has his father's eyes or her mother's complexion.  How awesome that must be.

10. Do you agree with the statement "less is more"?

Sometimes.  I like simplicity as well as loud, tacky, quirky, gaudy.  It depends on my mood.  It depends on the topic.  Um...less is more in terms of calories, earrings unless they are diamonds or jewels, and the height of my heels.  Less is NOT more in terms of spoiling me, expressing love, flavorful foods, and so on.  :)  It's really hard to say.  I'm a walking contradiction.

11. Name your favorite day that you've lived so far in your life. EVER.

My wedding day.  Duh.  Click here.

50 Followers ~ Thanks for Yesterday ~ Diet Update ~ Button Swap ~ & I've Been Tagged

I want to start out by thanking those of you who are reading this post, especially those of you who read my stuff regularly.  :)  My blog hit 50-followers yesterday.  Butter my butt and call me a biscuit.  :)  50 people who think I'm interesting is a pretty cool thing.  :)  So, thanks.

Yesterday was not a good day for me.  I was having a bit of a pity-party, and was just  feeling confused and lost and down in the dumps.  I wrote this post.  I received some awesome, much-needed, Christian advice on this post.  I really felt the love & y'all helped me sort out my thoughts...I just needed it.  So, thank all y'all fabulous people who commented and encouraged me.  Seriously.  Thanks.  I'll do a follow-up post on where we stand with missions & going to Africa when we know more.

I'm also going to take a brief moment to brag on myself.  I've been making healthier choices when it comes to food.  I've been doing this since January 3rd and I've lost 6 pounds so far!  :)  Yay me!   And all without working out - double yay!  I am so lazy.  I really don't want to excercise, but I know I'll have to if I want to continue slimming down.  I know a lot of people are trying to watch what they eat, and I'd love to hear from you & maybe form an alliance against butter.  :)  E-mail me at mynewwifelife(at)aol(dot)com and we can team up & support each other.  Fun stuff.

In other news, maybe you've noticed that I've added a tab at the top of my blog?  It's about button swapping & I'd love to swap buttons with any of y'all.  So leave me a comment or send me an e-mail, and we'll totes m'goats trade buttons.  :)

Alright, and now.......

I was tagged!  I'm a dork - I know - because I am SO excited about being tagged.  I've seen these posts all over & thought they looked fun.  So, thanks Alison, darling, for tagging me.  :)

...The rules...
(one)  you must post the rules.
(two)  post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post.
(three)  answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
(four)  tag eleven people and link them on your post
(five)  let them know you've tagged them!

...11 fun facts...
(one)  I have my very own .32 gun.  It's pink.  I have a permit to carry it concealed on my body or in my purse.  It's tiny but packs enough punch to provide me with a way to defend myself against bad guys.  It's a big enough gun to kill with.  So, that's cool.
(two)  With the local primaries going on right now, I'm pretty mildly obsessed with politics - which is something new for me.  I've never really cared a whole, whole lot.
(three)  I took piano lessons for 7 years, but I can hardly read music anymore.  And I wasn't very good.
(four)  My favorite hairstyle is a side braid.  I have super long hair / braids are easy / braids are cute / braids keep my hair out of my face.
(five)  I have teeny, tiny feet.  Size 5.5.  And teeny, tiny hands.  My wedding ring set is a size 4.5.  But really big but & boobs I'm fuller & curvy everywhere else.  So my small hands & feet look weird.
(six)  I have four tattoos so far.  Love 'em!
(seven)  I'm a Christian.
(eight)  I "sign" all of my posts with "coo-coo-kachoo, Mrs. Robinson" because of this song:
(nine)  I've lived in South Carolina all of my life, but done a good bit of traveling around the Caribbean and Mexico.
(ten)  I learned how to drive on a 6-speed manual transmission car.  It was awesome.  When I graduated high school, I got a new car and my parents gave my first car to my Aunt & Uncle, who needed it.  We recently bought it back from my Uncle and my husband drives it, now.  :)
(eleven)  I hate change & am extremely uncomfortable with new and/or different things.  Change just scares me, I guess.  And I usually cry..even though I'm usually not  a cry-baby.

...questions from Alison...
what is your favorite part of blogging?
meeting girls from all over the country who i have stuff in common with.  relating to people...supporting people...receiving support from them.  it's cool.  and what's great is that blogging is somewhat like a diary.  i'll always be able to look back on this time in my life.

what is your dream job?
well, i always wanted to work in the family business and eventually, maybe, someday, run it.  and i currently work in sales at the family business so.. i guess the only thing that would make job more dreamy would be less hours.  haha  i wish i could work 3 days a week & make just as much money

what is one thing that is in your dream home?
um....narrowing it down to one thing is hard because my dream home would be a perfect reflection of my husband & i, and how we would need our home to function to fit our needs.  but i would just love it so much if we had a huge shower....just an amazing bathroom in general.

who is your favorite band/artist?
right now...probably the band perry.  love their sound.

what is your favorite vacation spot/trip?
i just love mexico...i've been to several different parts with my parents.  i'd love to go back...but my favorite vacation was our honeymoon to st maarten.  it was pretty amazing.

who is one celebrity that you can't stand?
well that's easy!  kim kardashian.  she's famous but has no talents or skills...she is a moron and her "marriage" stint just makes me loath her even more.  it complete goes against every belief i have about marriage.  it's disgraceful.

favorite chick flick?

Dandelions and a Tobacco Basket

Mr. R and I are living in the house where I grew up.  It's been a very long process of moving our stuff in and moving my parents' stuff out.  Last week, my mom came over and cleaning out the curio cabinet.  She left behind some glasses that they received as a wedding gift from some friends of theirs.  For now, they are still in the curio cabinet.  They have what looks to be dandelions etched into the sides.  Aren't the amazing?

(A dandelion, for reference)

Today, my grandma brought me over a basket of goodies!  I can't wait to go through it after work, wash everything up, and check out the treasures!

You might not be able to see it, but behind the basket is a black umbrella.  Guess what.  It was my great, great grandmother's!  How amazing?!

Also, I have come into ownership of my very own tobacco basket!  I didn't get a picture of it yet...but here are some pictures I found on Pinterest.

The one that I now have?  Well...it's on it's way to my house.  :)  My grandpa is taking it by and dropping it off while I'm at work.  It won't fit in my car... But it came out of my great grandparents' pack house.  My grandma and my dad both worked out of that pack house when they were younger.  The basket even has our town's name stamped on the side!  It's is great shape, and I am so excited about having a piece of our family history to display as decor.  It amazes me that this is apparently a trend?  I had no idea.

I'm thinking of making a coffee table out of it?  I can't find anyone else who has done this and posted pictures online.  You guys know I've been looking for a cool coffee table.  :)  Or I could just hang it on the wall.

They look pretty awesome.

I'm so excited!

What kind of family heirlooms do you have in your home?

What would you do or what have you done with a tobacco basket?
