Our St. Maarten Honeymoon, Part Two

I have over 200 pictures of us from our honeymoon, but I'm not going to share them all with you.  Some just aren't internet-appropriate, but the real reason is because it would take forever for us to go through 200 pictures & captions on the blog + the honeymoon was almost a year ago and memories fade with time.  So, I'll try to summarize to the best of my ability but y'all know how long-winded I can get.
We spent seven wonderful days in St. Maarten:
...relaxing in & around the pools...

...getting beach-front couples massages...

...traveling into town for adventures & excursions...

...lounging on the beach watching sunsets...

...visiting the shops downtown...

...sipping on fruity drinks...

...meeting Nick Maley & exploring a Star Wars museum...

...watching airplanes land on one of the world's most popular beaches...

...taking the classic ring pictures...

...kissing...lots & lots of kissing...

...starting my Pandora bracelet...

...getting naked on the Nude Beach...

...and we even visited a local church when Sunday rolled around!

Oh, and we also spent tons of time doing things I'll never, ever tell you about.  :)

Our St. Maarten Honeymoon, Part One

We stayed at the Divi Little Bay Resort in St. Maarten.  The resort is on a Peninsula, with the ocean on one side and a bay on the other.  The views were absolutely breathtaking.  Our room was amazing.  We had a huge bed, a full kitchen, living room, shower, and hot tub with changing underwater lights and a music system, and two private balconies overlooking the ocean.  We were very lucky because we would not have been able to afford such a luxurious honeymoon, but my parents let us use one of their timeshare weeks to get the hotel, and his parents gave us honeymoon cash as a wedding gift.  It was the best week ever.  =)     

We pretty much just stayed in the room our first full day in St. Maarten.  For dinner that night, we went downtown to discover that most of the shops and restaurants were closed.  At first we were disappointed, but we later learned that most businesses only opened when cruise ships were in port.  Some places were still open, so we were able to get some much needed food and it felt like we had the island to ourselves.    

Obviously, I HAD to tie a knot in the cherry stem.  ;)

The Day After The Perfect Day

Hopefully you've read all about our love by this point.  If you're new, you certainly need to know how we met and fell head over heels in love.  Then, you won't be able to stop yourself from drooling over our wonderful, orange-tinted dream wedding.  You can click here for all of that.  When it was all over, we had an amazing honeymoon that Mr. Robinson kept a secret for 5 months.  
Originally, we started planning our honeymoon together.  We talked about going to the mountains for a week.  Suddenly, my soon-to-be-husband decided I was not going to have anything to do with the honeymoon plans.  If you are a control freak like me, you know how devastating it is to lose control over the single most important week of your life, but I went with it and tried to trust him.  After all, he was going to be my husband!  :)  I still figured that we would go to the mountains and decided to let him have his fun.  As the wedding approached, I started pestering him for hints and clues.  No dice.  
I finally convinced him to him me a weather-related hint so that I could buy some new clothes!  :)  He told me we were going somewhere "tropical-ish."  That changed my guess from the mountains to the Florida Keys.  I was in for quite the surprise.  :)    
September 10, 20115:30 pmWe said "I will" and made the single most important promise one person can make to another.
9:00 pmWe left the reception because we thought it was much later than 9:00.  We were also poorly prepared because we left the reception in a 1957 Corvette.  That was not the car we'd be driving to the airport and leaving in the parking lot for a week, obviously.  Mr. Robinson thought we were taking my car to the airport.  I thought we were taking his car.  Ergo, we had no car to take to their airport other than the Corvette my dad was coming to pick up later that night.  Also, my parents had my luggage and his parents had his luggage.  Oh, and I was crying hysterically because the perfect day was over AND I was experiencing some anxiety about leaving my parents.  My poor husband spent the next hour calming me down.    
10:00 pmMy parents come to our honeymoon suite to bring our luggage.  Also, we realized that we couldn't take our wedding attire on the honeymoon with us and decided to give our clothes to my parents.  I couldn't get out my dress by myself...I didn't want my mom in my honeymoon suite.  So this meant my parents had to wait downstairs while my new husband undressed me.  Awkward.  They took the Corvette with them.  After they left, I showered for the first time all day - haha!  My husband removed the millions of bobby pins from my head, and we got to work.  ;)  Sometime during the night, his parents were kind enough to drive to our house 30 minutes away to get his car, drive 45 minutes to our hotel and drop the car off, and another 45 minutes back to our house where the groom's family spent the night.        
We got about 2-3 hours sleep in the room we paid $170 for.  
September 11, 2011Yes, I was nervous about  flying on 9-11.  No, security wasn't any heavier than normal & we had no problems.  2:30 amWe woke up so early we missed the "breakfast" part of the "bed & breakfast."  But, it was necessary because we had a plane to catch!  Honeymoon Status, yo!  
4:00 amWe were at the Myrtle Beach airport.  My grandparents were there leaving for their vacation to Aruba.  They asked how our night was.  Awkward.  My husband finally told me that we were flying from MB to Charlotte and from Charlotte to St. Maarten!  =)  Since y'all know what my guess was, you know I was surprised by our honeymoon destination!  I was absolutely ecstatic and thrilled and so happy!    

We pretty much spent the day after our wedding making out in various airports.  We had lunch for breakfast in Charlotte.  Chicken Parmigiana Bagels.  Weird & delicious.
