As newlyweds, we don't have much money but we do have a pretty pitiful Christmas tree. I am all about sentimental decor and family heirlooms. Well...I made our own little family heirloom that I hope will be passed down for generations to come!
I started out by gathering all of my materials. Stickers, a piece of card stock, the key, ribbon, a hole-puncher, and scissors (not pictured). I purchased the stickers at Wal-Mart. They are Avery Print-To-The-Edge Oval Labels (Item #22814). there are 18 labels per sheet. If you visit Avery.com/templates you can download free templates for your computer to make printing a breeze! I printed my labels at work because I don't have a computer at home. The best part? Each label can say something different or they can all have the same font. It's up to you! So much freedom!
I laid the key on top of the card stock before I put down the sticker. I wanted to make sure that the key would not overlap the sticker & hide the words. THEN, I put down the sticker.
I used my hole-puncher to punch a hole in center of the card stock.
Then, I cut off a piece of ribbon and ran it first through the key, then through the card stock.
I tied a double-knot in the end of the ribbon.
So, that concludes my tutorial on making a "Our First Home" Christmas Tree Ornament. It's simple, classic, sentimental, and I adore it. If you happen to take on this project, I'd love to see the pictures & add your link to my post! :) E-mail me at MyNewWifeLife@aol.com if you're interested.
What kind of sentimental ornaments do you have on your tree? What is your favorite ornament & why? :) I love all things Christmas and hope to hear from you! XO's
